Kernel panic when resuming from hibernate

Hi,

I'm randomly getting such panics when my laptop wakes from hibernate. The panic seems to be related to connected external monitor, but I cannot reproduce it reliably. It happens "sometimes", but after last upgrade I got it twice in a row.

Is the "external monitor" connected to a dock?
The immediate trigger is the efivarfs module, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Unifie … _Interface

HDMI or dock, I use both variants. I have encountered the panic with laptop on its own or with monitor connected. Maybe the trigger is to suspend with monitor and wake up without or vice versa, but definitely not in 100%

The most likely cause would be attaching/detaching the dock during the hibernation (so you could see whether you can somewhat reliably trigger it this way)
If the efivarfs remains the only trigger you could use a hibernation hook to un-/remount /sys/firmware/efi/efivars around the hibernation and possibly unloading efivarfs
(Testing the approach manually and then leveraging https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Power_ … leep_hooks )
