Minecraft mysteriously stopped working after updating system

I recently upgraded my system. Following this, Minecraft mysteriously started freezing near the end of the loading screen. I tested this with both versions 1.21.11 and 1.16.5, running on both Java 21.0.7 and 25.0.2. The game's last log messages are simply:

[11:38:44] [Worker-Main-3/INFO]: Found unifont_all_no_pua-17.0.01.hex, loading
[11:38:44] [Worker-Main-1/INFO]: Found unifont_pua-17.0.01.hex, loading
[11:38:45] [Worker-Main-3/INFO]: Found unifont_jp_patch-17.0.01.hex, loading

Forcing X11 does not help. I am on kernel version 6.19.5, on KDE Plasma with Wayland. I updated today.
